➕ patient, determined, empathetic, level headed in a crisis, good listener, considerate and takes much better care of others than himself, needs to be useful

➕/✖️ perfectionist, pragmatic, honestly pretty chill about being a cog in the machine, a joiner who is easily enabled because he craves connection more than he cares to admit, uses humor as a coping mechanism, handles criticism better than praise

✖️ chronic overthinker, self-conscious, still tries to repress all his feelings, every once in a while says something too vulnerable that requires him to disassociate for awhile, prone to going feral every few weeks and making terrible personal decisions, careful with others but not always super concerned with his own safety or wellbeing

THEIR STORY.
SYS | ADM
  • Kit's childhood started off relatively normal. While he barely remembers a world without the architects, his parents— his mother in particular— had always been wary. The chip was not for them, it had been decided, so Kit always knew a world with feelings. It wasn't always easy. Kit was a gifted child destined for early burnout, a perfectionist before he even hit his teens. He can still recall fights with his friends, the panic over the fear of failure, the utter mortification of merely existing in his early teens. But then, he can also still remember the awe of watching his baby brother grow, the way his mother would hug him so tightly when she was proud of him, the excitement of young love.

  • And then came the fall. His mother was an early casualty, and while his father survived, his spirit died with her. Kit wanted to get out and get away, but his father had no energy to fight. He came home chipped and dragged the two boys to get the implant as well. Kit could have run, but their father had Archie and he couldn’t leave him. So he started life under the veil.

  • It was easier in some ways. The anxiety and self-consciousness that always plagued him went away. The grief of losing his mother vanished. But his drive was dulled too. It was harder to find joy in simple moments. It was only a few years before his implant began malfunctioning. He was still in school when the dreams began, when memories of before began creeping in. He didn’t know what to do, but instinct told him to keep it hidden. And he managed to, for awhile, but then the memory of his mother and her death returned. A neighbor caught him in the middle of his panic, but in luck was on his side. She recognized what was going on and urged him not to seek out a memory clinic. Instead, she made arrangements for him to move to Saldanha Bay to finish his schooling and process his trauma in a safer environment. Kit didn’t want to leave Archie, but he didn’t want to put him at risk either. So, he made excuses and left his old life behind.

  • Life became more challenging. He was alone for the first time, dealing with emotions he hadn’t experienced in years but at least he had a goal to work towards; as soon as he learned about Dislinked, he knew he wanted to join and fight for their cause. He spent the next few years training and working hard, doing everything he could to get himself recruited. Finally, it happened and he’s been onboard since
